CAFE QUINDIO
Is a family owned and women-owned business from Armenia, the capital city of the Quindío State in Colombia. Our story is full of magic and entrepreneurship. Back in the early 1990´s, our founder, Nubia Motta Camargo, found an opportunity in roasting at origin premium coffee beans. Back then, these premium beans were not sold locally and were reserved for the international market. It was a risky move since the local market was not used to drink good quality coffee, but a move that 30 years later, has given CAFE QUINDIO a special place in the heart of all coffee lovers.
What was born as a dream, is now a reality, one in which over 400 employees work fully committed to offer you the best cup of coffee from local coffee growers roasted and packed at origin. Quindío State, from where our name comes from, is located is the center of Colombia, that´s why we call ourselves the “Coffee from the Heart of Colombia”. This strategic location gives our State the privilege of having flat terrain as well as the majestic Andes Mountains. This difference in altitudes, allows the region to offer different varieties of Arabica coffee, each with its unique characteristics of flavor, notes, body and texture. Decaf is a blend of different varieties (Colombia and Castillo) of coffee harvested at around 3937-5577 feet above sea level (1200-1700 m.a.s.l.), giving it its unique chocolate and plums flavor notes. Its medium roast with its medium-low acidity, offers you a cup of coffee with a medium body, residual plum notes and cocoa and panela fragrance and scent. And the best of all, caffeine-free, so you can drink it any time of the day or night without disturbing your sleeping habits! The Decaffeination process is done through the Ethyl Acetate Sugar Cane Technique. In this process, the solvent used is 100% natural, a by-product of sugar cane. No chemicals are used during this process! By buying this coffee, you are contributing to the well-being of many local and small coffee growers in the well-known “Coffee Triangle” of Colombia, where coffee tradition is still the staple of this magical region.
